Our History

Thomas Heilmann and Christopher Ekman began their association in 1985 and founded Heilmann, Ekman & Associates, Inc. in 1988. The lawyers at Heilmann, Ekman & Associates, Inc. have represented individuals and institutions in litigation as well as commercial matters. In our litigation practice, we have represented, among others, architects, engineers, real estate professionals, lawyers and health care professionals in liability cases, plaintiffs in personal injury cases, and business owners in commercial disputes. In our commercial practice, we have represented sellers, buyers, developers, financial institutions and other enterprises in the creation of businesses, in buy-sell agreements, in mergers and acquisitions, in real estate transactions and in loans and financing.

We pride ourselves on providing cost-effective legal services that combine sound strategic and creative advice with skill and competence. We believe that effective representation, whether in a law suit or in a business transaction, requires good communication with our clients so that we can identify our client´s needs and goals. We then apply our many years of experience to develop a winning strategy so that we can achieve our client´s aims. We bring our skill and experience to the courtroom as well as to alternative forms of dispute resolution such as mediation and arbitration.

Presently, Heilmann, Ekman & Associates, Inc. is approved counsel with the following insurance companies, among others: CNA, for architects, engineers, real estate brokers, attorneys, and health care; XL Design, for architects and engineers, and; ALPS (Attorneys Liability Protection Society) for attorneys.
